Why this place

Bloubergstrand gives you the familiar view of Table Mountain across the bay, with the city seen from outside its central bowl. It is a rewarding place for a coastal walk and photographs when visibility is good. The kite-surfing scene also tells you something practical about the shore: wind is often a major part of the experience.

Pack a windproof layer and protect your camera or phone from blowing sand. Choose your walking distance according to the weather and leave room to change plans if the wind is uncomfortable. Keep clear of launching kites and lines. If you want a lesson, use an operator and check their requirements rather than trying unfamiliar equipment independently.
