Why this place
St James and Dalebrook offer tidal-pool stops along the False Bay coast. St James is recognisable for its painted bathing boxes, while Dalebrook provides a different setting for time beside the water. These are separate places, so choose the one that best fits your route rather than expecting to find both pools at one entrance.
Bring a towel, dry clothes and footwear for wet, slippery surfaces. Check the tide, swell and local warnings before entering: a pool wall does not remove the effects of the sea. Supervise children closely and leave space for other swimmers. Confirm access for your group in advance if steps or uneven surfaces would be difficult.
