Simon's Town
Boulders Beach penguins

Why this place
The penguin colony at Boulders is one of the peninsula’s most distinctive wildlife encounters. Boardwalks let you watch African penguins moving between the sand, rocks and water while keeping visitors on a managed route. Give yourself time to stand quietly and watch their behaviour. For children especially, that can be more rewarding than moving quickly to the next viewpoint.
Bring sun protection, water and a layer for wind. Keep to the marked route, give the birds space and avoid trying to touch or feed them. Check which entrance and beach access your ticket covers. If combining this with Cape Point, allow for travel and meals so the day does not become a race down the peninsula.
