Why this place

Table Mountain offers walking experiences that vary considerably in effort and exposure. Begin with a route that matches the least experienced person in your group, rather than choosing from a photograph. A suitable walk gives you time to notice the mountain’s vegetation and changing views without stretching your group beyond its comfort.

Consult current SANParks route and safety information, and consider a qualified guide if unfamiliar with the mountain. Carry water, food, weather protection and a charged phone. Share your plan with someone and keep to established routes. Check your descent independently: the cableway may close in wind, so it should not be your only exit plan.

Stay on marked paths, walk with others, carry water and warm clothing, and tell someone your route. Check the current park guidance before travelling.
