Zeitz MOCAA, converted grain silos

Why this place

Zeitz MOCAA brings contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora into the former grain silo at the V&A Waterfront. The building is part of the visit: the carved-out concrete atrium makes its industrial past visible, and the galleries ask you to slow down and spend time with the work. You do not need specialist knowledge to enjoy it. Start with an exhibition that catches your attention and read the artists’ own context.

Check the current exhibitions before arriving, since the programme changes. Comfortable shoes help on a gallery day, and a light layer is useful indoors. Pair the museum with a harbour walk if the weather clears. Zeitz MOCAA is the museum; the Silo Hotel is a separate venue in the same complex, so a museum visit is not a hotel booking.
