The V&A Waterfront and the red harbour boat
Thirty minutes on the red boat past the seals and the working harbour, then the Waterfront itself: the Cape Wheel, the shops, and a prayer room open around the clock with Jumu'ah on Fridays.

Two Oceans Aquarium
The kelp forest tank alone is worth the ticket. Ragged-tooth sharks, a penguin colony, and enough to hold a six-year-old for two hours.

Board at the Waterfront or Long Street
The red hop-on hop-off bus
One ticket, one day, and the whole peninsula loop: Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Kirstenbosch, Table Mountain. The upper deck on the Atlantic side is the seat to fight for.

Ferry from the Waterfront
Robben Island
Where Tuan Guru wrote out the Qur'an from memory and where Mandela spent eighteen years. The tour bus passes the shrine of Sayed Abdurahman Motura and the guide points it out. Book well ahead; sailings depend on the sea.
Opening: Daily departures at 9am, 11am, 1pm and, in peak season September to April, 3pm.

Stand-up paddleboarding at the Waterfront
See the Waterfront canals from a paddleboard. SUP Cape Town offers rentals and lessons, with an introduction before you head onto the water.

Browse the Waterfront’s shops and make room for the harbour, the Aquarium or a walk along the water in the same visit.
Opening: Victoria Wharf shops generally open daily 9am to 9pm.

A place to browse local design, ceramics, fashion and gifts, next to the Two Oceans Aquarium.

Granger Bay, V&A Waterfront
Oranjezicht City Farm Market
A weekend market for fresh produce, local food and a slow breakfast near the harbour. There is a seasonal Wednesday evening market too.
Opening: Saturday 8am to 2.30pm; Sunday 8.30am to 2.30pm. Wednesday evening 4pm to 9.30pm, closed during June and July.

Coffee and afternoon tea at One&Only Cape Town
A comfortable pause at Vista for coffee, tea or a light bite, followed by a walk through the public Waterfront.
